Defend the Atlanta Forest

Known for its environmental activism, Defend the Atlanta Forest is a left-wing group whose express aim is to stop the construction of police training facilities near Atlanta, which they dub “Cop City.” In September 2023, members of three-dozen activists associated with Defend the Atlanta Forest and aligned groups were indicted on RICO charges for attempting to stop the construction of the “Cop City” training centers. The group has ties with numerous other far-left organizations such as ANTIFA Atlanta, which has endorsed their activities in the past.

Animal Rights Militia

The Animal Rights Militia is a “direct-action” organization that carries out terrorist actions according to Philosopher Steven Best in “self-defense ” of animals in Europe and North America. The organization has claimed credit for arson against San Jose Valley Veal & Beef in Santa Clara, California in 1987. In 2006, the group claimed they poisoned POM juice drinks sold at stores popular on the east coast of the United States. Almost 500 bottles of POM Wonderful juices were found to have been tampered with at various stores along the eastern seaboard, including Wild Oats, D’Agostino’s, and Food Emporiums.

Professor Zeus Leonardo

A professor within the Graduate School of Education at UC Berkeley, Leonardo issued a call to “abolish white people” in 2007.

Professor Russell Rickford

An associate history professor at Cornell University, Rickord was a featured speaker at a pro-Hamas rally. Speaking of the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israeli civilians, Rickford said, “It was exhilarating. It was exhilarating. It was energizing!” He continued: “And if they weren’t exhilarated by this challenge to the monopoly of violence, by this shifting of the balance of power, then they would not be human. I was exhilarated.” Rickford is also known to be a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Professor Mark McPhail

A former tenured professor at Indiana University Northwest, McPhail was terminated from his position after issuing a call to “Kill All White People.” After this incident, McPhail was hired as the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon. According to The Chronicle, Linfield University President Miles Davis commented on the hiring of McPhail by saying, “His scholarly background and previous experiences in higher education make him an ideal candidate for Linfield as we move forward.”

Professor Johnny Williams

A professor of sociology at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, Williams penned a piece for the Hartford Courant that reiterated a statement he made on Twitter that “whiteness is terrorism.” In the Courant op-ed, Williams doubles down on his statement.

Professor Jairo Fúnez-Flores

A former assistant professor within Texas Tech’s College of Education, Fúnez-Flores has a long history of antisemitic social media posts. Hours after the deadly October 7 Hamas assault against Israeli civilians, the former professor took to X to write, “PALESTINIAN MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE IN PEACE AND WITH DIGNITY IN THEIR OWN LAND. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN AS LONG AS THE SETTLER COLONIAL STATE OF ISRAEL EXISTS.” Soon after, Texas Tech placed Fúnez-Flores on paid leave.

Professor Chanequa Walker-Barnes

Chanequa Walker-Barnes is a professor of practical theology at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Her bestselling book A Rhythm of Prayer: A Collection of Meditations for Renewal contains the piece “Prayer of a Weary Black Woman.” “Dear God, Please help me to hate White people. Or at least to want to hate them,” the prayer begins. “At least, I want to stop caring about them, individually and collectively. I want to stop caring about their misguided, racist souls, to stop believing that they can be better, that they can stop being racist.”

Professor Britney Cooper

Britney Cooper is a professor of women’s, gender, and Africana studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey. During a history of colonialism discussion with the Root Institute, Cooper stated that white people are historically “committed to being villains” and the solution is to “take them out.” She also stated that white people lack confidence in society’s ability to distribute power to diverse demographics “because they are so corrupt.”

Phil Lowcock

An academic and a former instructor at Kansas State University, in October 2024 — a few weeks before Election Day in the United States — Lowcock stated that any man who refused to vote for Kamala Harris should be “lined up and shot.” Backlash was swift soon after Lowcock’s comments were made public via a university video shared on social media. Both sitting U.S. Senators from Kansas called for Lowcock’s resignation, as did many social media users. Lowcock left his position at Kansas State University soon thereafter.
